Berlin Sounds and Music

Another in our series of music in public places - this time we head off into Berlin on a Saturday afternoon, around the platzs, and into and out of shops. We started in Alexanderplatz, went around past der Dom and the museums to upper Freidrichsstrasse, up to the Brandenberg Gate, back towards F'strasse and then through Gendarmenmarkt and back up Unter der Linden towards Alexanderplatz again and then, finally, up through Senefelder Platz towards Prenzlauer Berg.

Along the way we found everything from a million mile an hour oompah band to pseudo metal to quiet piano and lounge jazz, and with some cool beats in between.

Beware! This file is not normalised. It has quiet bits and and very loud bits ... just like the real world.

Bleepfest Berlin

We have a random assortment here gathered from three days of the recent Bleepfest Berlin. The result gives an idea of the flavour of the event, with all sorts of genres, and all sorts of things happening. Bleepfest is a music festival that covers electronic and computer based music.

On this podcast are featured the likes of Ekul, Juan Cantizanni, Magma, Ohmnoise, Robot Bathing, The Return of the Space Invaders, T und Bruder, and The Tupperware Party. You can find out more about these and other artists at the Bleepfest page. This is some 28 minutes out of something like 28 hours of music that occurred.

With any luck we'll soon have some video footage as well.

Lopez-Lescano Interview

Moscow band, Volga

This month we have, from Moscow, the band Volga and a song called Corn. Volga recently toured Germany and the Netherlands and are now back home. You can read a little more about them and get band links etc at thunderfinger's column.

Hopefully, our series of podcasts will continue in the near future. Just lately the chief audio recording, engineer, scripter, and tea boy (who happen to be the same person) have been on the road, and without the necessary equipment.
