As it happens, there are lots of different moods here. They vary from soothing electronic sweeps to full-on riffing angsttunes where the volume should be set to 11. Certainly the cover and title suggest that the defining mood is not going to be California dreamin' and so it isn't. Novamute do a good line in indy-tinged more raucous things.
