Boom Boom Satellites, Umbra LP, Sony Japan Cool mixture of jazz, grooves, hip-hop, and some heavy real drumming. People think that, like the French not being able to do rock without turning it into a campfest, the Japanese are only able to produce machine-like renditions of classical music. There is a little truth in both statements (more than enough for a tabloid mind to make it a rule) but, of course, real life is better than that. And Boom Boom Satellites is better than that by a wide margin - skilled playing, production, and arrangement, and a whole lot of feeling make this good stuff. (thunderfinger)
