Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, The Sound of the Third Season LP, novamute The Cocoon Club in Ibiza was an effort to move away from British beer monster culture towards a more pan-European thing. By all accounts it was and is a great success and this CD sets out to give us a sample of 2002 complete with some ambient dining and leaving noises as well as Sven and Rich having a chat ... sort of. We're talking serious, loved-up techno here with grooves that will move your feet. It's interesting to compare this to something of the same genre of a few years ago. The sound has got thicker and the variety of timbres has got very rich (er, sorry). There's very little voice as well still, which will hearten purists or those sick of random pseudo-raps put in by people in search of some pseudo-cred. (thunderfinger)
