Req, Sketchbook album, Warp Records
This is Req's first issue on Warp Records. The formerly Brighton based graffiti artist, DJ and producer gives us some very nice sounds here. The rounded tones bring back memories of Lemon Jelly but in most other respects this is a different, more subtle thing.
Processed beats and haunting melodic sub-themes are what this is about. It is comtemplative and unexpectedly sweet, in an innocent way rather than sachirine. www.req.net www.warprecords.com (thunderfinger)
