Where? Bretaye, Switzerland
How? You go to Geneva. You're met and taken to Villars
where you catch a mountain train to Bretaye. Then it's snowshoes, skis,
or feet for a twenty minute walk to Whitepod.
What? It's a collection of spacey looking pods around an old
farmhouse. Meals are served in the farmhouse and you can lounge around
as well. Showers and toilets are also there. Middle of the night needs
are catered for by a potty. The aim here is eco-tourism and to lie as
light on the land as possible.
Activities? On and off-piste skiing, snowshoeing, walking, climbing.
Read in your pod if you want.
Cost? approx 550CHF per night with a minimum stay of two nights is
the all inclusive rate for accomodation, food, drink, and activities.
The dinner, bed, and breakfast rate is 205CHF (no drinks). No children under 12
are allowed.

How did you come up with the idea for the little domes? Desire to go
back to nature and find a way to share it with people in a positive way.
Who designed them? Confidential How long have you been open? Since
October 2004
You must get an interesting mix of people. Do you find your guests have
many things in common? yes, mainly wanting to try something different,
but also the feeling of adventure, expeditions and of course beautiful
setting.
At this time of year the accent is on snow activities. What sort of
things do you do in other seasons? Are you actually open in the summer?
Summer offers a wide range of outdoor activities; mountain biking,
fishing, swimming in apline lakes and rivers, wild flower cookery
courses, hiking, rock climbing and paragliding.
What is the temperature like in summer? warm during the day (between 20
and 25oC), fresh evening and night (10 to 15oC)
The accent, beside enjoying the peace and the air, is very much on
activities. Is there room for the more sedantery? Chill-out on their
private terrace, massages, yoga classes, reading by the fire.
Have you got any plans to further develop your concept? New things for
next year/next season? Lots of plans, more details to be released in due
course!
